HERB'S JOURNEY
If you had told me 10 years ago that in retirement I was going to become a regenerative organic citrus grower in my retirement years, I would have laughed you back where you came from. To say my journey to becoming a regenerative organic citrus grower has not been a linear or logical one would be quite an understatement.
For over 40 years, I dedicated my career to the chemical industry, genuinely believing I was doing the right thing by helping farmers control pests with pesticides and grow abundant crops. Like many in the industry, I had the best of intentions. But what I didn’t realize was that I was doing more harm than good. When a fellow farmer introduced me to the idea of regenerative organic farming, it felt like the ground shifted beneath me. Everything I thought I knew about farming was suddenly upended.
A REVOLUTIONARY SHIFT
After buying a small farm in Southwest Georgia and quite literally getting my hands in the dirt day in and day out, I began to understand that the true foundation of sustainable agriculture lies in the soil’s microbial ecology.
This wasn’t just a new technique - it was a completely revolutionary way of thinking. The more I learned, the more I was astounded by the research showing that the soil’s microbial ecosystem is one of the most powerful symbiotic relationships on our planet. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
"If there’s one thing my decades-long career in agriculture taught me, it’s that you can’t just believe something - you need to prove it. And that’s exactly what I set out to do."
WORKING WITH NATURE
As I dove deeper into regenerative organic practices, I realized I wasn’t just growing crops—I was cultivating life in the soil, fostering a vibrant community of microbes that, in turn, nurtured the plants. This was more than just farming; it was about working with nature rather than against it.
I became obsessed with understanding how these tiny organisms could do so much good, and I quickly found myself surrounded by a community of like-minded farmers who were just as eager to learn and share their knowledge. We all knew we didn’t have all the answers, but that’s what made the journey so exhilarating.
Each new discovery felt like unearthing a hidden treasure, and every setback was just another opportunity to learn.
The camaraderie among this group of growers was unlike anything I had experienced in my previous career. Instead of competing, we were collaborating—sharing ideas, successes, and failures—each of us contributing to the collective knowledge of regenerative farming.
The citrus we grow on our small farm isn’t just fruit; it’s the product of a thriving ecosystem. Each piece is literally bursting with the vitality that comes from the trillions of microbes supporting it, and it’s our family’s hands that carefully craft each one. Now, after years of research, trial, and plenty of error, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible results that come from this way of farming.
FARMING ISN'T JUST ABOUT FEEDING PEOPLE
IT'S ABOUT FEEDING THEM WELL
We believe that nutrient-dense food is the key to better health, and we’re passionate about providing that to our community. It’s not just our job; it’s our calling. And we’re proud to share the fruits of our labor with you.
Whether you’re biting into one of our oranges, sipping on freshly squeezed juice, or cooking with our zest, you’re not just enjoying a piece of fruit—you’re experiencing the result of years of dedication to growing in harmony with nature.
From our family to yours, we hope you can taste the difference that regenerative organic farming makes.
